Tutorial: getting values for your car
by LJ

This is really easy... if you want to get the proper values for your C2 car, so that it behaves as other C2 cars would, then all you have to do is: (I'm using Cesm's modified version of PT2 for this, some menu options may be in different places)

  • Import your car into PT2 (Import BRRender .ACT file).
  • Go to Objects-->Setup Car... it will say something about saving the file and ripping sections out. Don't worry about this, just click OK.
  • In the 'tree' of components, click the car actor (the one named carname.act). You will notice that its icon now has a small '-' on it. This means is has data values attached to it.
  • Then click the data tab.
  • In there you will find all the relevant info to paste into your text file:
  • Click Mechanics - there is a value for minimum turning circle, which should be ideal for your car.
  • Click the + on Mechanics... this will show a root part. Click that, and below that it will give you centre of mass, mass, and angular momentum proportions.
  • If you want to figure out how to set up crush data (that's in the wam file) properly, then you can find out by opening master crush data, and the crush data.
  • Click on one of the components listed, and then below you are given softness and crush type.
  • If you double click these, you can see what values C2 will accept. (For softness, there is one more I believe: uncrushable).
  • If you change the crush type, then PT2 will give additional options. You can see how the wam file should be set up by following these options (and making reference to the section at the bottom added by CarEd).

Well, that's it really... that's how you can get the right kind of values on your car... I think it works pretty well.
