First, as we look at the viewport. place four points on it defining a square and one point in the centre.

Then add points leading toward the centre... the more you add, the more detailed your sphere will be. I have chosen to add 2 more points inward (a total of 8 more points)

Then, add 4 more points. This time make them slightly off center from an imaginary diagonal line between your first outer points (line shown below in red). I've even enlarged it cos i'm kind like that, see.

This then represents one ring. Our aim is to get a number of rings all the way around. Continue this for the rest of the rings. You may need to add more than one point for some rings... after, it should look like the example below.

Ok, so you've got all that done. Now you need to start linking them up. You should have pretty simple triangles already defined (as above)... if this is not the case then more work may be needed. Now start to link up the nodes so they all make triangly shapes...

Ok, so it should look something like the above pic, also you should have a red circle in your rendered 3d port... try rotating it, does it have any kinks? So does mine (hehe). Just move some points around a bit until the kinks are gone. Now, you have a circle made of several rings. So, select all of the points that are used in the last but one ring (look at the pic below)

Then, as these are selected... raise them up, using another viewpot as a guide to height. You may find that the side's are too sloped. Do not fret, I found this problem too. So if you want to make the sides a little steeper, keep all the current selected points, selected. Go to the component editor and select 'Transform' found under the points' section.

Change all of the scale values, I have changed mine to 1.3 ... this should be ok. Making them 0.3 or some other value less than 1, shall make the sides more sloped.

Use the same method (selecting rings and raising them) until you have a pretty much 'half ball' shape. For the last bit you only need to select the central point. Your 3d model *should* now look something like the picture below.

Then, copy the nodes on the first ring up (Edit - copy) then paste them, move them down about the same length as they are up and unselect (see below for a pic giving a much better description of what I mean... after all, 'a picture paints a thousand words')

do the same for all the other points, then as before... make some faces! You should end up with a pretty nifty ball shape like the one below. Some more refining may be required, but thats the best way I know of doing this... more shapes to come.

Any problems, Questions, suggestions etc... then just get in contact with one of us via email. The 'teams' contacts are available (strangely enough) on the contacts page.
